Our group at the University of Luxembourg pursues a wide range of research interests within the realm of mesoscopic systems. With typical length scales of nanometers to micrometers, mesoscopic systems are already rather large compared to quantum systems like atoms and molecules. Nevertheless they can display a plethora of interesting quantum phenomena, such as interference effects and many-particle quantum dynamics. We use various analytical and numerical techniques to study such systems.
One of our group members, María Belén Farias, has obtained an FNR CORE Junior grant to carry out the project "Optical responses of open topological semimetals". During this three-year project, she will study the interaction of novel materials with their environments, and the impact of such interactions into their optical properties.
